Mirza Faizan

Faizan is a world-renowned aerospace scientist and inventor of the Ground Reality Information Processing System (GRIPS), an innovative system to prevent runway incursion, runway excursion and detect foreign objects & debris on runways in real-time.

Faizan is a world-renowned aerospace scientist and inventor of the Ground Reality Information Processing System (GRIPS)

He has vast experience working on the design and development of aerospace, defense, and mission-critical systems. His research and algorithm for predicting collisions between random particles in a semi-controlled environment are highly admired by scientists from NASA, Pentagon-AMRDEC (Army Missile Research, Development & Engineering Center), and US Air Force. Global R&D communities often seek his expertise in research, innovation, aerospace systems design & development, and aviation safety.

As a nominated judge of the R&D 100 Awards, Faizan has evaluated research & technologies which are exclusively funded/owned by NASA, the United States Department of Homeland Security, Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Department, United States Department of Energy, United States Department of Defense – Joint Cyber Center, United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Faizan is also keenly interested in Psychology and possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a special interest in child learning and development. For his innovations and contributions to the global aerospace and defense industry, Faizan was granted permanent residency in the United States under the ‘Alien of Extraordinary Ability’ category, also known as’ ‘Einstein Visa ” a category generally reserved for Nobel Laureates or top scientists.

Project ‘DiscoverSTEM’ began in 2016 with an interesting series of events and observations. Our founder Mirza Faizan, a globally recognized aerospace scientist, and a serial inventor, was invited to evaluate students’ innovations at a global innovation competition conducted at NASA Kennedy Space Centre and International Science & Engineering Fair. During those two years, he interacted with and evaluated students’ ideas from around 85 countries and made two interesting observations.

Mr. Faizan decided to capitalize on this untapped, bright, and promising resource of ideas and mentor young kids to convert their ideas into innovation. To do this, he, along with his brother Dr. Mirza Rizwan, who has a doctorate in ‘Innovation and Corporate Sustainability,’ decided to develop a course module to mentor young kids to identify real-world problems and innovate novel & patentable STEM solutions to these problems.

A unique DiscoverSTEM course module was developed within a year, which includes two innovative and proprietary tools – ‘STAR’ (Structured Thinking, Analyzing, and Reasoning) and ‘Problem-to-Innovation Process (PIP).’ It is a step-by-step process that starts with identifying problem statements and ends with a novel and often patentable STEM solution to those problems.

In 2019, Faizan left his job as the Director and Head of Aerospace, Defence & Space Engineering at a multi-billion dollar MNC and devoted his life to the mission to mentor young innovators and entrepreneurs of the future.
